- How did you hear about the Women’s House?
My cousin’s husband actually told me about the house, and I had no idea what he was talking about. I visited the house for a Cupcake War my freshman year and decided to move in as a sophomore.
- Why did you decide to live there?
As soon as I walked in I had a sense of peace. I felt so much more comfortable at the house than I did in the dorms. It is a warm, welcoming place, and I wanted to live with people who have similar values and backgrounds. The chapel was also a big selling point.
- What is your favorite thing about the Women’s House?
I love having a chapel in house so I can spend time with Jesus without leaving. There is a great sense of community, and I enjoy doing night prayer together. We grow together and form authentic friendships. There’s also a house mother to be your ‘mom away from mom.’
Also, the food is delicious 🙂
- What is your favorite memory at the house?
Probably just the small acts of kindness. For example, the other day I was doing some homework later at night and I was a little stressed out. One of the girls who lives at the house with me brought me some coffee. It’s nice to know there’s people there for you.
- How has your faith grown through living there?
Seeing the example of strong, Catholic women has helped me grow so much. And again, with an in house chapel God is literally present. The house is also close to the Newman and it’s fun to go to events there with the other women from the house.
- What is your advice to women considering living in the house?
Come in, check it out, get a tour, and ask questions. A lot of people say they aren’t living in the women’s house because they want to live with their friends-invite your friends!
Everyone in the house is really inviting, so don’t be afraid if you don’t know anyone! Be open to meet new people and you could make some of your best friends.
I love the women’s house. I want to stay there forever.
