Since our last E-News there’s been a lot going on. Our staff enjoyed our annual staff retreat, our FOCUS Team got our student leaders geared up for Welcome Week with their Student Leaders’ Retreat, and we welcomed hundreds of students to the Newman Center during Welcome Week…our BIGGEST Welcome Week yet!

August Happenings

Annual Staff Retreat

We prayed, played and planned to get ready for the coming school year.

Thanks to Maryvale Retreat Center for hosting us again this year!

Student Leaders’ Retreat

We had a number of students come to the FOCUS led Student Leaders’ Retreat. It was a chance for our student leaders to spend some time in prayer and with each other, reflecting on their spiritual lives and how the Lord would like to use them this coming school year.

Welcome Week

It was our BIGGEST Welcome Week yet. Sunday morning Mass was standing room only, with chairs set up out in the gathering space. Served 140 some donuts that morning. Sway and Play was packed with students playing a variety of outdoor games or hammocking. We used up 40 lbs. of beef for Taco Tuesday. 10 gallons of ice cream between Root Beer Floats and Ice Cream Bar. Served up over a 100 hotdogs and burgers on Thursday and had a blast dancing in the parking lot after. And our outdoor movie, while paused for a few minutes to let some sprinkles go through, was a great success as well. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great Welcome Week!

Popcorn Maker

Many of you remember the smell of popcorn at Newman…the old popcorn maker took its last pop sometime over the summer, but we got a new one that is up and running, and gave the old maker a proper burial.
