Get "Offline" with the Newman Center

"Cyril" , one of the three cameras we needed to purchase for our live streams, films Father Luke as he delivers a homily during daily Mass.
Venerable Fulton Sheen would be having a field day in this age of coronavirus. The late Bishop was asked by NBC, back in the early days of television, to anchor a show during primetime. It was a new way to preach. It was a strange way to preach. And now everyone, including undCatholic, has to do it.

Here at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, the congregation has been replaced by cameras. The students have been replaced by silence. And the only way for the Word to get out is through an internet cable.

But that doesn't mean life isn't busy. We're still serving the students and faculty of UND. And we'd love for you to join in one (or all) of our online ministries:

Zoom Bible Studies - If you're working from home, there's a good chance you're using Zoom for your work meetings. Our missionaries are using it too, continuing their weekly Bible Studies online. So if you go to the wrong Zoom meeting this week, and you see a bunch of people happy and excited to be there, there's a good chance it's one of our Bible Studies.

LiveStream Liturgies - Each day, you are invited to join us for Morning Prayer and for Mass. On regular week days, Morning Prayer is streamed at 9AM, and Mass is streamed at 5:15PM. The Holy Week Liturgy will be streamed at the following times:

Holy Thursday - Mass of the Lord's Supper, 7PM
Good Friday
- Celebration of the Lord's Passion, 3PM
Holy Saturday
- Easter Vigil, 9PM
Easter Sunday,
Easter Mass, 10AM

To join us, simply click the link in the title of this section. It will take you to our LiveStream Liturgy page on our website, which is updated before each broadcast.

"Newman Offline" Video Series - It was hard to read the news that students wouldn't be returning to campus this semester. From time spent in spiritual direction with Father, to moments spent with missionaries in the "Mamma T" room, to just saying "Hi" to Basil (Father's dog), life at the Newman Center is driven by students. So we created "Newman Offline", a semi-regular video series created to give students, alumni, friends, and benefactors a taste of the life of the Newman Center. You can view all the episodes in the link in the title of this section. More are being added all the time.
Help us keep offering these online ministries to our students.
On the most recent episode of "Newman Offline", students and missionaries from the Newman Center surprised Father Luke with video letters of support.

BIKE RACE!

5 Questions and Answers

Is there a Bike Race?

YES! There is a modified Bike Race this year between the UND and NDSU Newman Centers. Students can still register to ride. Then sometime between Friday, April 24th and Saturday April 25th, they will ride up to 25 miles and log their distance on Strava.

Why is there a Bike Race?

The Bike Race has always been about supporting the ministries of the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center. Having a Catholic ministry on-campus at UND is crucial for the good of the university and the mission of the Church. In-season and out, whether times are healthy or sick, we believe this Newman Center is worth supporting, for the sake of students, both present and future, and for the faculty and staff of UND.

How do I sponsor Father Luke or another rider?

Will Father Luke and Father Cheney race?

Absolutely. They are itching to see who has the speed and the endurance to win. Not only will they race, but we will broadcast the race LIVE!
