April 2019

For more than a dozen students, FOCUS missionaries, and Father Luke Meyer, our Pastor, Spring Break 2019 was spent in service on mission trips around the world. Our students could be spotted in Albania, El Salvador, and the Czech Republic. Pictured here is Isabelle Henley, sanitizing the floor of an Albanian storage facility used by a religious community working directly with disabled children and adults near the capital city of Tirana.  Read our Pastor's reflection on the mission and view more pictures of our work in Albania at Fr. Luke's Blog
Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the Lenten Season on March 6th. Approximately 600 students and members of the UND community joined us for Mass and distribution of ashes where students were encouraged to fully enter into the season in preparation for spiritual battle. Students gathered downstairs for tea, coffee, and a simple meal to discuss how to engage in the practices of Lent.  Forty days later, we are ready to walk with the Lord Jesus in these sacred days of Holy Week.  Ash Wednesday Photos
UND Alumni, Austin Artz (History, '18), has been facilitating a regular weekly course entitled  "Birth, Life, and Blood: A Chronological History of the Catholic Church" that takes participants through the major movements of Catholic Christianity from beginnings at Pentecost through the present day.
Before and After: A year-end gift from generous supporters provided funding for the transformation of an unused office space into a Bible Study room to accommodate our growing number of Bible studies. Through this donation, we were able to paint the walls an inviting color, purchase new furniture, and replace light fixtures. This room, named after St. Teresa of Calcutta, is already a favorite among students looking for a warm environment to study or meet with a small group.  A large picture of a youthful Mother Teresa, a large crucifix with "I Thirst", as well as a collage of current and past students who have been on mission in places related to her life and service are coming soon!
